It’s been in the works for years, but finally USA can add a second circuit to the calendar! The Miami street circuit has been greenlit to take place in 2022! The 3.36 mile street circuit consists of 19 corners and three long straights with the famous Hard Rock Stadium to serve as the backdrop for start/finish line.
This is truly an epic day as Drive to Survive slowly grows the American market for Formula 1, adding a second race in a place that can match the glitz and glam of Monaco, is a well informed choice. While we may not see the mega yachts in the harbor, I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes the new race Redbull aims to win every single year. (Let’s be honest Haas sure as shit isn’t going to win their “home” race, at least not for a while)
If you didn’t know, while Monaco is an absolute staple of Formula 1 racing, the cars have outgrown the track. Limited spots to overtake and low speeds through corners makes Monaco an absolute bore of a race in the past couple years. Basically, unless someone crashes, whoever qualifies on pole is going to win. Monaco has remained on the calendar because of the sheer amount of money it brings to Formula One, but now, a new player has entered the game and while it won’t exactly be Monaco, all the pomp and grace may have just found a new home that can handle these new cars.
The Miami circuit is here to stay for the next ten years.
